Terrell Suggs says he rarely comes away from any physical altercations after the whistle without a flag being thrown in his direction.
The Ravens linebacker knows he caught a break yesterday, however.
Whitworth got his hands up under Suggs' face mask while blocking, and ended up ripping Suggs' helmet off. Suggs was tossed to the turf, and when he got up, found himself facing wide receiver Jerome Simpson, who looked like he was preparing to hand Suggs his helmet.
Suggs delivered an open-handed punch to Simpson's head, which luckily went undetected by the officials.
"I was getting into it with him all day, exchanging words," Suggs said. "I could have cost my team. I've got to be better in that area. Luckily, I got away with one. Usually, I don't get away with anything. They were too busy looking for the spot of the ball."
Why did Suggs pick that moment to deliver his shot at Simpson?
"He came saying Tom Brady was his favorite quarterback," Suggs said. "So, it was instantly beef. It was rap beef, though, it wasn't street beef."
Ah, yes. Tom Brady's name returns yet again. I guess opponents are catching on to Suggs' distaste for Brady and are starting to use that chip on the playing field.
As for the rap beef/street beef distinction, I'm afraid I can't help anyone out with that. If you're able to translate, please let me know.
