Polamalu returns to practice; Birk, Carr sit for Ravens

The Steelers had All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu back at practice today after he missed yesterday’s session with an Achilles injury.

Polamalu had a full practice, and appears set to play Saturday.

The Ravens were without center Matt Birk (knee) and cornerback Chris Carr (thigh) today. Birk missed his second straight day of practice, while Carr rested today, but said he hopes to be ready to play against the Steelers on Saturday.

Linebacker Tavares Gooden (shoulder), wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth (illness) and safety Tom Zbikowski (back) all had full practices today for Baltimore.

Reports are Pittsburgh will be without defensive end Aaron Smith (triceps) for Saturday. Smith was limited today for the second straight day.

In addition to Polamalu, cornerback Bryant McFadden (abdomen) is listed as having a full practice for the Steelers.
