In the midst of all the NFL labor madness, I have a few actual Ravens-related news items to pass along this afternoon.
Yeah, it's a nice treat, isn't it?
First, the Ravens have signed offensive tackle Eric VandenHeuvel, according to his agent.
VandenHeuvel - and what an awesome name that is, by the way - played his college ball at Wisconsin. He checks in at a massive 6-foot-8, 324-lbs., and was a three-year starter in college. He has not played for an NFL team previously.
VandenHeuvel worked out for the Ravens today, and was offered a contract.
Meanwhile, former Ravens defensive tackle Justin Bannan was released by the Broncos today.
This comes just one year after Bannan signed a five-year, $22 million contract with Denver, a deal that included $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
I guess to Broncos are ridding themselves of anyone they can in any way trace back to former coach Josh McDaniels.
Bannan played four years with the Ravens, starting 19 games in that span. He started all 16 games for Denver last season, posting 35 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
