David Reed activated off Physically Unable to Perform list

The last remaining Raven on the Physically Unable to Perform list has passed his physical and been cleared to practice.

David Reed, the Ravens’ fifth-round pick last season, is now a part of the team’s active roster after missing the last two and a half weeks of practice as he recovered from offseason wrist surgery.

The Utah product led the NFL in kickoff return average as a rookie, with 29.3 yards per return. He also recorded a franchise-record 103-yard kick return for a touchdown in a December game against the Texans.

In addition to seeing time as a kick returner, Reed will mix in with rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss in the fight for playing time on the offensive side of the ball.

It will be interesting to see if Reed is able to use his year of NFL experience to overtake the rookies on the depth chart at wide receiver, or whether the time that he’s missed on PUP will leave him trailing Smith and Doss in the coaches’ eyes.

In order to make room for Reed on the roster, the Ravens announce they have waived undrafted rookie DT Terron Sanders.
