The Ravens officially have a new offensive tackle.
Bryant McKinnie has passed his physical, the Ravens announced, and the 10-year veteran is now on board with a two-year contract worth up to $7.5 million.
It’s not clear at what weight McKinnie reported; the Ravens are listing the tackle at 345-lbs., but reporters won’t be able to see or talk to McKinnie until after tomorrow’s preseason game against the Redskins at the earliest.
McKinnie will not play tomorrow, but assuming he is in decent enough shape, he could be plugged into the starting lineup in next Thursday’s preseason finale against the Falcons. The 31-year-old told ESPN Radio that the Ravens have told him that he will be playing left tackle, and Michael Oher will be moved over to right tackle.
To make room for McKinnie on the roster, the Ravens waived punter/kicker Jake Harfman.
Yes, that’s a 5-foot-10, 195-lb. kicker “making room” for a 6-foot-8 offensive tackle that reportedly weighed nearly 400-lbs. three weeks ago.
