A month ago, Oniel Cousins was competing for the Ravens’ starting right tackle job. Today, he’s no longer on the roster.
The Ravens waived Cousins today, cutting ties with the 2008 third-round pick. The team also waived wide receiver and seventh-round 2008 pick Justin Harper, offensive tackle Brady Bond, tight end Jonathan Stupar and five rookie free agents: DT Cornell Banks (Fresno State), C Ryan Bartholomew (Syracuse), WR Rodney Bradley (Hawaii), LB Anthony Leon (Arkansas), WR Terrell Zachery (Auburn).
Cousins, a UTEP product, never showed the toughness or footwork that were necessary to compete at the NFL level. He was bumped over to guard a week ago, but new signee Mark LeVoir started at right guard in Thursday’s preseason game against the Redskins.
Harper had a couple strong camps with the Ravens, but never did quite enough to crack the 53-man roster.
The Ravens now have 81 players on their roster, and will need to get down to 80 by Tuesday’s cut deadline.
