So much for holding out hope for Sunday.
Evans told reporters that he still considered himself a gametime decision for Sunday, despite not practicing all week. Turns out, the decision has already been made. Evans will sit, allowing him more time to rest the ailing ankle.
Wide receiver David Reed (shoulder) and cornerback Jimmy Smith (ankle) have also been ruled out for Sunday.
With Evans and Reed out, the Ravens will rely on a wide receiving corps made up of Anquan Boldin and three rookies - Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss and LaQuan Williams. None of the three rookies has made a catch yet in their two games in the NFL.
While Evans will definitely not play Sunday, there's still a chance that left guard Ben Grubbs suits up. Grubbs (toe) has been listed as questionable, as has cornerback Chris Carr.
Center Matt Birk (knee), nose tackle Terrence Cody (concussion) and defensive end Cory Redding (toe) are all listed as probable.
For the Rams, three-time Pro Bowl running back Steven Jackson (quad) is listed as questionable, as is his backup, Carnell Williams (hamstring). Starting linebacker Ben Leber (groin) and reserve defensive end CJ Ah You (wrist) are also questionable.
Wide receiver Danny Amendola (elbow) did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful, while reserve tight end Michaeel Hoomanawanui (calf) and wide receiver Greg Salas (ribs) are probable.
