Grubbs won’t play vs. Tennessee

The Ravens will be without starting left guard Ben Grubbs when they take on the Titans this afternoon.

Grubbs has been declared one of the Ravens’ seven gameday inactives and will not play today because of a toe injury. The five-year pro was listed as doubtful coming into today.

With Grubbs out, Andre Gurode is expected to start at left guard for Baltimore. Gurode has 10 years of NFL experience, but he has been a center for the vast majority of his career.

This will be the first game that Grubbs has missed in his career. He had appeared in the previous 65 contests.

Here’s the full list of the Ravens’ inactives: G Ben Grubbs, WR Tandon Doss, CB Jimmy Smith, CB Chykie Brown, CB Chris Carr, NT Brandon McKinney, OLB Sergio Kindle.

Newly promoted cornerback Danny Gorrer is active, giving the Ravens four cornerbacks in uniform today. Gorrer gets the nod over Brown, the rookie fifth-round pick, who is still more of a developmental prospect.

Here are the Titans’ inactives: S Chris Hope, QB Rusty Smith, WR Damian Williams, CB Chris Hawkins, C Kevin Matthews, T Byron Stingily, DE William Hayes.

Hope and Hayes are starters for Tennessee, so the Ravens aren’t the only team shorthanded today.
