Ravens nail SI cover; McAdoo to injured reserve

The Ravens continue to earn plenty of national pub following Sunday's 35-7 win over the Steelers. The latest comes in the form of the Sports Illustrated cover.

Ravens_SI_cover-tall.jpgQuarterback Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice grace one of three covers put out by SI. The Jets are shown on the national cover, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander is pictured on one regional cover, while Flacco and Rice get the other regional cover which is available in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia.

Yes, Steelers fans living in Pennsylvania will be stuck with Flacco and Rice on their SI cover.

Quick question: if there are three different covers put out by Sports Illustrated, does that mean that Flacco and Rice will only get one-third of the bad luck associated with the cover jinx? I'm not sure how this works.

Meanwhile, the Ravens just announced that they're placing rookie defensive end Michael McAdoo on injured reserve with a knee injury.

This serves as the Ravens' corresponding roster move for the activation of wide receiver David Reed from the reserve/suspended list.

McAdoo was signed as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the supplemental draft midway through training camp.

The UNC product is currently an incredibly lanky 6-foot-7, 245 lbs., and he'll now benefit from a full year with the Ravens' strength and conditioning staff, who will try and add some bulk to McAdoo's frame.

This essentially serves as a redshirt year for McAdoo, who can spend this season learning in the meeting rooms and then come back next summer and compete for a spot on the 53-man roster.
