Jimmy Smith active for first time since Week 1

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back Jimmy Smith.

The Ravens’ rookie cornerback, who has missed the last five games with a high left ankle sprain, is active for tonight’s game against the Jaguars. Smith returned to practice this week after a nearly six-week layoff, and he’ll get his first legitimate taste of NFL action in primetime.

It will be interesting to see how the coaches opt to rotate Smith into the mix. He might get some reps on defense in nickel situations, but I’d be surprised to see him out on kickoff coverage, which is how he injured the ankle back in that Week 1 game against the Steelers.

Cornerback Chris Carr and safety Tom Zbikowski are both inactive after being listed as questionable and doubtful, respectively.

Carr is still dealing with a hamstring injury, while Zbikowski is not fully recovered from a concussion suffered back in Week 4.

Here’s the full list of Ravens inactives:

WR Lee Evans, OG Ben Grubbs, LB Dannell Ellerbe, RB Anthony Allen, S Tom Zbikowski, CB Chris Carr and LB Sergio Kindle.

For the Jaguars, starting offensive lineman Eben Britton is out with a back injury. Will Rackley will start for Britton at left guard.

Here are the Jaguars’ inactives:

WR Chastin West, S Courtney Greene, G/C Jason Spitz, OL Eben Britton, TE Martin Rucker, WR Jarrett Dillard and DT Nate Collins.
