Since that press conference, Lewis has missed two practices, and now he reportedly will be forced to sit out Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Lewis will miss at least the Cincinnati game and possibly more because of a toe injury, according to The Carroll County Times.
The Ravens' 12-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker had the toe examined by a specialist in South Florida today, per the report.
Lewis apparently suffered the injury during last Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. (You have to wonder if it happened on this ankle-breaking move by Seattle's Marshawn Lynch.)
If he does, in fact, miss Sunday's game, it will be the first time Lewis has missed a game since 2007.
Lewis' injury will test the Ravens' depth at their inside linebacker spots. Veteran Brendon Ayanbadejo is one guy who could get bumped up into the starting lineup, while third-year man Dannell Ellerbe is another option.
Ellerbe had a full practice today and appears to be closing in on a return from a hamstring injury that has caused him to miss the Ravens' last four games.
I'll have more on Lewis' injury as it becomes available.
