Reed will play, Ochocinco inactive for Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass, - While there are no surprises among the seven players the Ravens deactivated for today’s game, there’s one name on the Patriots’ inactive list that you might not expect.

Wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been scratched for today’s game.

Ochocinco has been dealing with some personal issues the last few days, as his father passed away late in the week. It’s unclear whether Ochocinco’s deactivation is related to that, or more the fact that he’s become a non-factor in New England’s offense.

The former Bengals star receiver saw just one snap last week in the Patriots’ win over the Broncos and made just 15 catches all season.

The Ravens are nearly completely healthy entering today’s game, and that includes safety Ed Reed, who will play today despite spraining his ankle late in the Ravens’ win over Houston last Sunday.

Reed was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he had a full practice on Friday and is good to go for today’s game.

Here are the Ravens’ inactives: WR Tandon Doss, CB Chykie Brown, RB Anthony Allen, LB Josh Bynes, LB Sergio Kindle, G Justin Boren, NT Brandon McKinney.

Here are the Patriots’ inactives: WR Chad Ochocinco, QB Ryan Mallett, RB Stevan Ridley, RB Shane Vereen, LB Gary Guyton, OL Donald Thomas, T Sebastian Vollmer.

The Ravens are sporting their white jerseys and black pants today, which is the same uniform combination they wore when they beat the Patriots in this very stadium in the wild card round of the playoffs two years ago.

Just sayin’.
