Despite seeing Bart Scott and Jason Brown sign large free agent contracts with other teams last offseason, the Ravens did not receive any compensatory picks in next month's draft, according to an NFL release.
In that release, the league announced the list of teams that will get picks in return for losing unrestricted free agents last year, and the Ravens are not included.
In addition to Scott and Brown, the Ravens lost Jim Leonhard and Kyle Boller during the 2009 offseason, but they also signed Domonique Foxworth, Matt Birk, Chris Carr and L.J. Smith.
Because they signed as many UFAs as they lost, the most the Ravens could have received from the league as compensation was a seventh-rounder. The league apparently did not view the Ravens' net loss was substantial enough to warrant such a pick.
The highest compensatory pick a team can receive is a third-rounder, and teams can get a maximum of four selections. The picks come at the end of each round.
Within the AFC North, the Bengals received third and fourth-round picks, while the Steelers will get two fifth-round picks and a seventh-rounder as well.
