Enough catches to go around?

Derrick Mason says he "feels great" about the additions of Anquan Boldin and Donte' Stallworth, and loves the way that the Ravens' wide receiving corps is shaping up.

Having said that (there's a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" joke for you), some players in Mason's shoes might worry that the offseason acquisitions will affect their role in the Ravens' offense.

According to Mason, however, that's not part of his thought process.

"This is how I see it," Mason said. "This is my analogy right here: You've got your favorite pair of pants, right? And just because you buy a new pair of pants, do you go away from your favorite pair of pants? No you don't, because you know that pair of pants is going to work for you every time. So that's how it is."

And if you get a hole in that favorite pair of pants?

"You're still going to wear them," Mason said. "But I've found if you buy a good pair of jeans, the likelihood of them having a hole in them is pretty slim. So if you pay $200 or $300 for jeans, it's going to last a long time. You're not going to have holes in them, no matter what you do."

If we're sticking with Mason's analogy, the Ravens would like to think they've gotten a high quality pair of jeans in the 36-year-old receiver.

They shelled out $8 million over two years for the 13-year veteran, and expect him to contribute at the same level they've seen over his five years in Baltimore.

Mason says he still plans on being a big part of the offense and like any competitor, he wants the ball in his hands. But he claims that competitive fire won't get in the way of any team goals.

"We've acquired two great individuals," Mason said of Boldin of Stallworth. "Not just football players, but I think individuals. But does that mean all of a sudden Mason's role has diminished? Other guys have got to get the ball, and that's great, and I'm all for it because I want to win a Super Bowl. Point blank. That's it."
