Some news and notes

The Ravens and linebacker Jameel McClain reached an agreement on an exclusive rights free agent contract today, the team announced.

I'm sure you've all been losing sleep anticipating that news.

Demetrius Williams needed to leave yesterday's practice after getting tangled up with cornerback Domonique Foxworth on a fade route. Both players went airborne for the ball, and they fell awkwardly.

Williams landed on his face (hold your jokes, please), and stayed down on the field for a few minutes. He did not return to practice.

Head coach John Harbaugh didn't have much of an update on Williams, but he did say the wide receiver leaving practice was mostly "just precautionary to make sure he's okay".

Kicker Billy Cundiff went 6-of-8 on field goals attempts yesterday, with one of the misses coming up just short from 60 yards out.

Harbaugh complimented Cundiff after practice ("He's been kicking very well," Harbaugh said), and added that he was planning on having the offense run a hail mary before changing his mind and letting Cundiff try the lengthy kick.

"I guess they talked me into it because I was standing back there, and we were going to go for the hail mary, and all the guys on the offensive side were saying, 'Get him out there and kick it, take a shot at it,'" Harbaugh said. "And Randy Brown, our kicking coach, was asking for it. So, I thought he hit it really well, it just came up a little bit short, but it was a great kick."

Here's a piece I wrote on Cundiff last week, where the kicker claims that despite rumors that the Ravens will add another veteran kicker prior to training camp (Shayne Graham, anyone?), he feels confident that he's the guy that can earn the job this season.
