More bad news for the Steelers

It hasn't been a great offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Within the last few months, the following events have occurred:

• Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for at least four games (and possibly as many as six) for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Roethlisberger's infamous bathroom encounter in Milledgeville, Georgia was the cause of the suspension.

• Pittsburgh traded away their previous No. 1 wide receiver, Santonio Holmes, for a measly fifth-round pick after they got word that Holmes would be suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

• Last month, they lost wide receiver Limas Sweed, a second-round pick back in 2008, for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

• And now, the Black and Gold will apparently be without their starting right tackle for the entire 2010 season.

Reports are that Willie Colon, one of Pittsburgh's most physical offensive linemen, has torn his Achilles tendon. An MRI taken yesterday is expected to confirm the tear.

To recap, that leaves the Ravens' most hated rival without their Pro Bowl quarterback for four games, their previous No. 1 wide receiver, an up-and-coming backup wide receiver, and their high-quality starting right tackle.

There might be a lot of distraught football fans in the Steel City these days, but for some reason, I doubt those in Baltimore are all that upset about the Steelers' newfound issues.
