Chris Carr says there's no need to worry.
Yes, he sat out today's morning practice with a lower back injury, but this ailment isn't anything new.
In fact, it's something that's happened the last two training camps as well.
"I'm fine," Carr said today. "I kind of tweaked it and can't really do anything for a while and then I'm fine. I think I just need to get it realigned and let the inflammation calm down."
Carr said the back started to tighten up yesterday during practice but that he wanted to try and fight through it. The coaches and trainers opted to keep him out of practice today as a precaution.
"We've got people down, I don't want to leave everyone out there exhausted," Carr said. "I came out this morning and it was the same thing. Since there was no improvement, I don't want to do anything where I'm going to be out and make it something serious. This is just a precautionary measure."
Carr says he doesn't think the injury is related to the large number of reps he's gotten lately with the Ravens thin at cornerback. It's just something that tends to come up every summer.
"I did something to it a long time ago," he said. "It flares up every now and then. This is not as bad as last year. Last year it took about four days [to recover]. Last year I could barely walk."
The sixth-year pro out of Boise State said hopes to be back out on the practice fields tomorrow after giving the back a little more time to heal.
