It may feel like training camp just started a couple days ago, but believe it or not, tomorrow is the deadline for the first round of roster cuts.
The Ravens will have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to trim their roster down to 75, meaning they need to cut five players sometime in the next day and a half.
Who is at risk of being released? Here are 10 guys who are on the bubble for this round of cuts:
Doug Dutch, CB Acquired from the Redskins early in training camp in the John Beck trade, Dutch hasn't done much in his time in Baltimore. He was on the Skins' practice squad last year, but won't stick with the Ravens through the final round of cuts. He could be let go shortly.
Chris Hawkins, CB - The Ravens signed Hawkins mid-way through training camp. The undrafted rookie out of LSU is still raw and has had the difficult task of trying to learn the Ravens' defense in just a couple weeks. He's looked lost at times during the preseason.
Brad Jones, DB - The undrafted rookie was with the Ravens during OTAs, then was cut after passing camps. He re-signed with the team a little over two weeks ago, but could be one of the five to get the axe.
Bryan Mattison, G/C - The son of defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, Bryan has been on the Ravens' practice squad the last two seasons. He has a better shot at making it through this round of cuts than most of the others on this list because he's one of only three healthy centers right now, and the Ravens might need him to fill in at that spot in the preseason finale.
Albert McClellan, OLB - McClellan impressed at times in training camp, but the Ravens are very deep at outside linebacker and the undrafted rookie is the low guy on the totem pole. If he does make it through this round of cuts, he could be a practice squad candidate.
Mike McLaughlin, FB - The former Boston College linebacker is transitioning to fullback, and while he's shown he's got the right mentality for the position, he has a ways to go. McLaughlin was one of only two healthy players not to play on Saturday against the Giants (Willis McGahee was the other). He too could be a practice squad candidate if he stays with the team until the final round of cuts.
Marcus Paschal, DB - Paschal has missed pretty much all of camp and the preseason with a quadriceps injury. The three-year veteran has been out of commission and also might be out of the coaches' minds at this point.
Eron Riley, WR - Riley is a favorite of wide receivers coach Jim Hostler, and the Duke product made strides while on the Ravens' practice squad last year. He's at the very bottom of the depth chart at this point, and thus is at risk of being cut, but he'll likely make it through this round because of a lack of WR depth right now, and could be a practice squad guy again this year.
Daniel Sanders, C - Like Jones, Sanders was with the Ravens in OTAs, was released a couple months ago, and then was re-signed during training camp. A shoulder injury has kept him off the practice fields the last couple weeks, and could send him packing in this round of cuts.
Devin Tyler, T - Signed early in training camp when the Ravens were experiencing a run of injuries to offensive tackles, Tyler has held his own the last few weeks. But with Tony Moll now healthy and Oniel Cousins getting back towards full-strength, Tyler might no longer be needed.
