Ravens cut Hamlin to get to 53-man limit

With cornerback Cary Williams rejoining the Ravens after a two-game suspension, the team needed to make a roster cut to get down to the 53-man limit.

The guy to get the ax was veteran safety Ken Hamlin.

Hamlin was signed this offseason as insurance for injured safety Ed Reed, and he was also expected to compete with Tom Zbikowski for the starting free safety spot with Reed out with a hip ailment.

But Zbikowski took control of that job from the very beginning of training camp, and Hamlin was relegated to the second-team defense and special teams duties.

The eight-year veteran made one special teams tackle in the two games played so far this regular season, and did not see action from scrimmage.
