Some fines and some locker room notes

With the Ravens preparing for their game with the Steelers two days from now, the NFL is now handing out fines from last Sunday's game against the Browns.

Two Ravens, left tackle Michael Oher and safety Tom Zbikowski, have apparently received a bill from the league for actions during that game.

Both Oher and Zbikowski will be docked $5,000, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Oher's fine is for hitting Browns defensive end Robaire Smith in the head, while Zbikowski was fined for his late hit on running back Peyton Hillis.

Meanwhile, it was a very loose atmosphere in the Ravens' locker room today as the team wrapped up their practices for the week.

There was no media dodgeball this afternoon (fortunately for myself), but music was blasting from a number of different lockers, and linebacker Tavares Gooden and cornerback Chris Carr roamed the room trying to dunk a football on top of various reporters.

Gooden would set Carr up for alley-oops, and the cornerback would leap up and spike the ball over the unfortunate media member who got caught not paying attention.

I kept my head on a swivel and avoided such a fate.

Both Gooden (shoulder) and Carr (thigh) are listed on the injury report today, but I guess they weren't letting their medical situations keep them down.

The players are usually excited on Fridays because it means practices are over and gameday is approaching, but you can tell when the big games are near. There's almost always a dance contest, dunk contest, or loud celebration of some sort the Friday before the games the players are really looking forward to.

Sunday's contest against Pittsburgh would surely qualify.
