Lawrence to begin practicing next week

The lone Ravens player still on the Physically Unable to Perform list, running back Matt Lawrence has not practiced with the team since suffering a torn ACL last November.

That's about to change.

Lawrence, who has been out since the start of training camp because of the knee issue, will begin practicing with the Ravens this upcoming Monday, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

"He'll be up Monday, start practicing with us on Monday, and then we'll just have to see how it goes," Harbaugh said.

Next week would be the final week that Lawrence would be eligible to begin practicing with the team.

Once he does begin practicing, Lawrence has a 21-day window to be activated to the Ravens' 53-man roster. If he's not ready to play by the time that window expires, the Ravens will need to leave him on PUP, which would end his season.

The second-year running back played in eight games last year for the Ravens, appearing mostly on special teams. He also had four carries for zero total yards.

Despite the circumstances, the Massachusets product is keeping a positive outlook throughout this whole process.

"Really, it's different for a guy like me," said Lawrence. "I'm not a get-frustrated type of guy. I've got a lot of strong faith. So, I just put my prayers with the Lord and let the chips fall where they may.

"I feel like I've been rehabbing and doing what I need to do. I've been training in the weight room. They're working me real good."

Lawrence, who just got married during the Ravens' bye week, says he isn't concerned with whether he'll be able to make it back by the PUP deadline.

"I'm not worried about that timelines and all that stuff, rules," he said. "You can't things frustrate you. It's not a frustrating thing. The clock is for my time to shine."
