Some teams have "black outs" for big home games, where they encourage fans to wear all black to show their support for their team.
When the Ravens take on the Steelers in primetime on Sunday Night Football, the team hopes to have those at M&T Bank Stadium take part in a "purple out".
The Ravens and Verizon Wireless will provide every fan that enters M&T Bank Stadium with a purple rally towel, and the Ravens are encouraging fans to wear all purple and wave their towel for the nationally-televised NBC broadcast.
"Our fans are dedicated and extremely passionate - especially when it comes to playing the rival Steelers," Ravens vice president of corporate sales and partnerships Mark Burdett said in a statement. "M&T Bank Stadium boasts one of the NFL's premier home-field advantages, and our players feed off our fans' energy. We're excited to see everyone wave their towel proudly, so a sea of purple will be on display for the national audience."
Fans are encouraged to arrive in their seats at least 10 minutes prior to the 8:20 p.m. kickoff.
"When our players are introduced, it will be a great scene at the stadium and on NBC-TV. We'll have that 'wall of purple' Coach Harbaugh brags about," Burdett said.
