Starting in place of the injured Todd Heap, rookie tight end Ed Dickson made the type of play that Heap has made so many times over the course of his 10-year career.
On a third-and-10 from the 34-yard line, the Saints brought the house on a blitz. Dickson delayed his route, let the blitzing linebackers run by him, and took off down the seam.
Quarterback Joe Flacco found Dickson wide open over the middle, and the Oregon product rumbled into the end zone for his first career touchdown, tying the game at 7-7.
The Ravens fell behind on the previous drive when Saints tight end Jimmy Graham made a spectacular one-handed grab and dove into the end zone to give New Orleans the lead.
But Flacco, Dickson and company answered right back with a nine-play, 76-yard drive that took up 4:20 with of clock.
They relied heavily on the run, with Ray Rice, Willis McGahee and Flacco combining for six carries on the drive.
Through the first 12 minutes, the Ravens are hanging with one of the hottest teams in the league. We'll see if they can keep it up.
