The fines keep on comin'. This time, it's Ed Reed who will owe a hefty chunk of change.
The Ravens safety was fined $10,000 for delivering a forearm to the head of Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Sunday, according to a league spokesman.
Reed came in on a safety blitz and, as he tried to strip the ball from Brees, hit the quarterback in the helmet. Reed was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.
"I swung kind of hard," Reed said after the game. "I thought I was going to be able to get the ball and wound up hitting his head and whatnot. So those plays are going to happen. It's football."
While the league office will be expecting a check from Reed, they won't be asking for one from Saints defensive end Will Smith, who kneed Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco in the helmet after Flacco was brought down for a sack.
Flacco was caught on camera screaming at referee Walt Anderson about the lack of a flag on the play.
Not that it would have made much difference to Flacco anyway, but Smith won't be fined for the hit, either.
