The entire ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown crew has picked the Ravens to beat the Steelers tonight.
If you're a Ravens fan, I'm not sure if that's a positive thing or a negative thing. Personally, I never liked it when my team was unanimously picked to earn a win.
Call me weird, call me superstitious, but I always preferred it when the "experts" didn't give my squad a shot.
If you're like me, you might be interested to hear what the NFL Network's Marshall Faulk had to say when previewing tonight's game. Faulk apparently isn't too high on one aspect of the Ravens' defense.
"The cornerbacks for the Baltimore Ravens are a liability and we will see it today," the running back-turned-analyst said on the NFL Network's pregame show.
That's more like it. Bring it on, Faulk.
When the Ravens and Steelers square off, it always seems like there are at least one or two controversial penalties which play a key factor in the game.
If that trend continues tonight, the Ravens might actually have the edge. Shocking, I know.
While the Ravens were burned by the yellow laundry on more than a few occasions last year (and in other years, as well), they've actually been much improved when it comes to their discipline this season.
The Ravens have been penalized just 60 times this season for 487 yards, which is the 7th-best total in the league.
There have been very few pass interference flags and very few silly personal fouls, this after a 2009 season in which Baltimore was penalized an NFL-worst 1,094 yards.
In contrast, the Steelers have been flagged 72 times this season for 653 yards, 9th-worst in the NFL.
Pittsburgh has been penalized a whopping 24 times in the last two games, and have been the victims of a number of key personal fouls penalties.
In previous years, the Ravens were the ones who needed to worry about playing smarter football and not letting penalties beat them. This time around, that shoe is on the Steelers' foot.
We'll see if that plays a factor today.
