Last summer, Terrell Suggs wore a t-shirt to training camp that read: "You bet your sweet ass I hate the Steelers".
Today, with the Ravens preparing to face their arch rivals in the divisional round of the playoffs, Suggs went with a different look, but it had the same type of message.
The t-shirt he wore today, seen at right, featured the words "Hey Pittsburgh" and had a giant Raven below it giving the middle finger.
I guess you could say the bird was flipping the bird.
The Ravens public relations staff did their best to get Suggs to take the shirt off before heading to the podium to speak reporters, but they had no chance. He was on a mission.
Senior vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne even called on defensive coordinator Greg Mattison and asked for his help, but Mattison just laughed.
"Help with Suggs?" Mattison said. "No way."
Once he got to the podium, Suggs modeled the shirt with a giant smile on his face. The Pro Bowl outside linebacker was asked if he was trying to send a message with his attire today.
"Nah, there ain't no message," Suggs said. "Like I always say, I put on for my city. They rep their city and I'm repping mine. So, here we go."
Suggs said he feels the hatred between Baltimore and Pittsburgh every time the Ravens and Steelers square off.
"When we go down there, they always hit us with the number ones," Suggs said. "I don't know how they act here because I've always been in the locker room by the time all the fans get here. I'm pretty sure we're hitting them with the number ones. It's whatever. We're just going to go play a football game."
