Is it too early to start talking about mock drafts?
Maybe in my world, but certainly not in Mel Kiper's world.
The ESPN draft guru has put up his first mock draft a full three months before the draft itself is set to kick off on April 28.
With the 26th pick, Kiper has the Ravens selecting Miami cornerback Brandon Harris.
Harris checks in at 5-11, 195 pounds - great size for a corner. I don't know a ton about him, but did a quick search online and saw that he's the son of the USA Today National High School Coach of the Year (so you'd imagine he's got a pretty high football IQ) and is considered a good natural athlete with quick feet and pretty good speed.
The Ravens would like to add another corner through the draft, and ideally, would find one with good size. The biggest corner in their rotation this year was Fabian Washington, who is listed at a generous 5-11, 175.
Again, it's incredibly early to be predicting who the Ravens will take in the draft, but it can't hurt to get a jump-start on learning some of the possible targets.
I'm heading out to Owings Mills for a 2 p.m. press conference announcing Chuck Pagano as the Ravens' new defensive coordinator.
I've got a 3:30 meeting at MASN, but should have time in between to pass along some of Pagano's thoughts on the promotion and what style of defense he expects to run.
