Down on the farm

Matt Hobgood allowed one run and four hits in six innings tonight for Single-A Delmarva, lowering his ERA to 3.90. He walked three and struck out four.

Troy Patton allowed one run and five hits in seven innings at Triple-A Norfolk, walking none and striking out four. He threw 100 pitches, 64 for strikes.

Robbie Widlansky hit his first home run tonight for Double-A Bowie.

Pasadena native Chorye Spoone allowed four runs (three earned) and seven hits in four innings. He walked two, struck out one and threw two wild pitches.

Alfredo Simon is warming in the Orioles’ bullpen. Guess he’s pitching the ninth and going for the save unless the Orioles add another run.

The two teams have combined for nine home runs tonight.

This is the 12th time in club history that the Orioles and their opponent have combined to hit eight or more, and the seventh time it’s happened at home. Most recently, it occurred on May 27, 2008 in a game against the Yankees.

Tonight’s attendance: 35,164.
