Umpires reviewed Marco Scutaro’s fly ball that was ruled foul down the left field line with one out in the top of the sixth, and they upheld the call after checking the videotape.
That’s the first review here in 2010 and the third all-time at Camden Yards.
Replays indicated that the ball hooked foul by a few inches, but Boston manager Terry Francona came out of the dugout to argue the call.
Jeremy Guthrie has allowed one hit over 5 1/3 scoreless innings, a Kevin Youkilis double in the first. He’s retired 15 in a row after striking out Scutaro, who doesn’t need another review.
Instant update: I’m being blamed for checking on the number of batters Guthrie retired in succession. Of course, Dustin Pedroia followed with a single.
Update II: Tonight’s attendance is 40,001. Are you the one?
The Orioles have four hits off Jon Lester in five innings. They put runners on second and third with one out in the fifth and couldn’t score. Guthrie must feel like he can’t afford to give up a run or he’s going to lose.
