A second baseman left the game with an injury, but it wasn’t Brian Roberts.
Orlando Hudson was removed in the bottom of the third. We’re still waiting for official word, but it might be an oblique injury.
Roberts has grounded out twice and struck out. He ran the count full again in the fifth inning before going down swinging.
Twins left-hander Brian Duensing has induced nine ground balls through five innings.
Ty Wigginton hit his first triple since Aug. 16, 2008. Plate umpire Gary Darling tried to call him out at third base, saying he only touched the bag with one foot.
Jeremy Guthrie was clinging to a 1-0 lead with two outs in the sixth until giving up Joe Mauer’s two-run shot. Mauer also flied to deep center in his previous at-bat.
Guthrie had allowed two hits heading into the sixth, but the Twins have singled, homered, singled and singled with two outs.
Guthrie’s fastball has been clocked at 97 mph.
Brian Matusz and Twins reliever Anthony Slama, who just replaced Duensing, are the only University of San Diego alums in the big leagues. Slama was Matusz’s closer for two years.
Update: Luke Scott just launched a two-run homer over the out-of-town scoreboard in right to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead. He’s 9-for-19 with three homers this month.
Josh Bell (11th) and Brandon Snyder (sixth) homered for Triple-A Norfolk in the second inning. Troy Patton has allowed two hits, walked none and struck out four over four scoreless innings against Lehigh Valley.
Joe Mahoney homered tonight for Double-A Bowie, but starter Ryohei Tanaka allowed 10 runs and eight hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Single-A Frederick shortstop Pedro Florimon is 2-for-2 with four RBIs.
