Quick hits

FORT MYERS, Fla. - We're almost ready for the anthem and the first pitch here at Hammond Stadium in sunny Fort Myers.

Actually, it's starting so I have to stop typing.

OK, I'm back.

Justin Duchscherer had another successful bullpen session today and is slated to throw two innings Monday in a minor league game.

"That's the best I've seen him throw," manager Buck Showalter said. "He had a good face when he was throwing. You could tell he felt good physically, so that's encouraging. We'll see what each day brings."

Showalter said the next round of cuts won't come until after Sunday's split-squad games.

The Orioles brought the following minor leaguers on today's trip: Pitchers Mike Ballard, Brandon Cooney, Chris George and Ryohei Tanaka, catcher Steven Lerud, infielders Greg Miclat, Carlos Rojas and Tyler Townsend, and outfielders Xavier Avery, Kyle Hudson and Robbie Widlansky.

Koji Uehara threw 14 pitches in a minor league game today. He got three outs on seven pitches, striking out one batter. He faced one more hitter and walked him on seven pitches.

Ryan Drese is starting tomorrow's game against the Rays in Port Charlotte. Jeremy Hellickson starts for Tampa Bay.
