Teagarden behind the plate today (Hammel surgery Monday)

Taylor Teagarden played in his first game with the Orioles yesterday. He hit his first home run, and the first walk-off shot of his career.

Today, he gets to start his first game behind the plate.

Steve Johnson is here. He found out about his promotion while heading out the door following Triple-A Norfolk’s game last night. He was called into manager Ron Johnson’s office and given the news.

Update: Jason Hammel will undergo surgery tomorrow at Johns Hopkins Hospital to remove a piece of loose cartilage from his right know. Doctors have told Hammel he could return in three to four weeks, though his recovery might take longer.
