Orioles lineup against Pirates and injury notes (updated)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Xavier Avery gets the start in center field tonight, as the Orioles travel to Bradenton to play the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wilson Betemit will start at third base, with Manny Machado skipping the trip.

For the Orioles:
Alexi Casilla SS
Ryan Flaherty 2B
Wilson Betemit 3B
Jason Pridie DH
Travis Ishikawa 1B

Brian Matusz, Tommy Hunter, Troy Patton and Daniel Schlereth also are scheduled to pitch.

The bench will include Russ Canzler, Niuman Romero, Luis Exposito, Lew Ford, LJ Hoes, Yamaico Navarro, Steve Pearce and Danny Valencia.

Machado is back in camp after leaving yesterday to have a root canal. The procedure lasted about 90 minutes and he feels fine. He will work out today.

Nick Markakis said his neck is feeling better and the stiffness is "slowly moving out," but he can't say for sure that he will return to the lineup Sunday.

That's the plan, but it's subject to change.

"I'm just taking it one day at a time," he said, adding that he's not worried about his neck.

Catcher Taylor Teagarden (lower back) will take batting practice and catch bullpen sessions again today, and he's getting close to playing.

Sterling Marte CF
Jose Tabata LF
Neil Walker 2B
Pedro Alvarez 3B
Gaby Sanchez 1B
Brandon Inge DH
