Hardy scratched from lineup

The Orioles just announced that shortstop J.J. Hardy has been scratched from the lineup due to a sprained left thumb.

Ryan Flaherty moves from second base to shortstop. Jonathan Schoop is starting at second base.

Hardy, who had played in 96 straight games, has been bothered previously this season with tightness in his lower back and a hamstring injury.

Hardy is batting .283/.315/.388 in 108 games, with 25 doubles, six homers and 40 RBIs. In his last six games, he’s 11-for-23 with three doubles, two homers and seven RBIs.
