Orioles and Rays lineups

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Orioles manager Buck Showalter is going with a right-handed heavy lineup this afternoon against the Rays.

Right-handers are batting .199 against Tampa Bay starter Jake Odorizzi this season, but .249 in his career. Left-handers are hitting .268 this season, but .228 over his career.

Joey Rickard is leading off and playing left field and Craig Gentry is batting eighth and playing right. Jonathan Schoop remains in the third slot in the order, with Adam Jones hitting fourth.

Caleb Joseph is catching today.

Trey Mancini’s 13 home runs are the most by an Orioles rookie prior to the All-Star break since Eddie Murray hit 13 in 1977.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Orioles actually fell nine games shy of the all-time major league record for consecutive games allowing five runs or more held by the 1894 Louisville Colonels of the National League.

Closer Zach Britton threw a scoreless inning last night at Single-A Delmarva, walking one batter. He’ll pitch Monday night at Double-A Bowie.
