Orioles and White Sox lineups

Mark Trumbo had four hits last night, but he’s out of the lineup for tonight’s game against the White Sox.

Danny Valencia is the designated hitter and Joey Rickard is in right field.

Trumbo, who also failed to hold onto a fly ball in the eighth inning that sparked the White Sox’s three-run rally, is 2-for-3 lifetime against right-hander Dylan Covey.

Chris Davis is batting fifth again tonight. He’s 2-for-31 with 15 strikeouts in his last eight games.

Alex Cobb is coming off his first win as an Oriole, when he held the Red Sox to three runs over 6 1/3 innings at Fenway Park. He allowed 10 hits for the fourth time in seven outings.

Cobb Gray Sidebar.jpgCobb is 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA and 2.500 WHIP in two career starts against the White Sox. He’s allowed 12 runs and 17 hits in eight innings. Eight runs and eight hits were produced over three innings in his lone start at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sept. 27, 2016 - the last of his five starts after returning from Tommy John surgery.

The current White Sox are 7-for-15 against him. Leury Garcia is 2-for-2 with a triple and home run.

Right-hander Dylan Covey is making his second start and appearance of the season. He worked Game 2 of an April 28 doubleheader in Kansas City and allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings in a 5-2 loss.

Covey made one start against the Orioles last season and allowed six runs and 10 hits over four innings, with two wild pitches and a balk, in Chicago’s 6-5 loss at Camden Yards. Manny Machado and Trey Mancini homered off him.

Machado and Mancini are 2-for-3 against Covey.

Adam Jones owns a 10-game hitting streak at Guaranteed Rate Field dating to July 5, 2015. He’s hitting .395 (17-for-43) with four doubles, one home run and five RBIs.

On this date in 1999, Brady Anderson became the third player in major league history and first in
the American League to get hit by pitches twice in the same inning. Anderson scored both times and the Orioles scored a then-club record 10 runs in the first inning in a 15-6 win over the Rangers at Camden Yards.

The White Sox signed outfielder Alex Presley to a minor league contract. He batted .275/.347/.367 in 26 games at Triple-A Norfolk.
