David Hernandez's primary goal yesterday was to throw strikes.
He fanned three batters and gave up a solo home run.
That qualifies as throwing strikes.
"My bullpens have been a little shaky. I haven't been able to do it in bullpen sessions, so yesterday was real good. It felt good," he said.
"I wasn't sure how I was going to react going two innings my first time out in a live situation, but it went real well."
The only fastball that Hernandez threw was the two-seamer that he's been experimenting with in camp.
"I feel like I was able to keep the ball more down in the strike zone," he said.
