Post-game notes: O's top KC in ten

The Orioles 4-3 win in 10 innings over the Royals on Tuesday gave them a split of the two-game series and they went 4-4 on the eight-game homestand.

Wins and losses: The O's improve to 13-27 on the season and are 11-11 since starting the year 2-16. They are 8-12 at home, 4-1 in extra-innings games and 7-7 in one-run contests. The Royals are now 15-25 on the year and 3-2 in extra innings.

Nick the stick: Nick Markakis' RBI single in the tenth ended the game for a walk-off win. It was his 13th RBI of the year and just his 4th in his last 16 games. Markakis is batting .337 (33 for 98) over his last 25 games with ten multi-hit contests in that stretch.

Luke Scott came up with a pair of solo homers tonight, numbers 8 and 9 on the year. It's his 8th career multi-homer game and first since May 29, 2009 vs. Detroit.

Scott has hit seven homers in 12 games in May covering 45 at bats.

Over his last seven games, Scott is 13 for 26 with five homers and 10 RBI.

Corey Patterson's solo homer in the 8th tied the game at 3-3. It traveled 390 feet to right center and was his second since joining the club.

He's having a good year: Even though he does not have a single win on the year, the O's improved to 4-1 in Kevin Millwood's home starts. Over eight innings he gave up ten hits and three runs, throwing 120 pitches.

He is 0-4, 3.65 on the year and the O's are 4-5 overall in his nine starts. He has pitched eight innings or more three times and improves to 7-4 lifetime in 14 career starts vs. KC. He retired the first 13 batters in the game and this was his fifth quality start of 2010.

Over the last seven games, Orioles starters have pitched to an ERA of 2.94 (16 ER over 49 IP).

The Orioles have scored just ten runs over the last four games. They went just three for 25 with runners in scoring position in the four games and hit six homers in the stretch.

Tuesday's attendance was 9,715 and the two-game series drew 19,014. Average attendance for the season is 21,937.

The Orioles are now 11-4 when scoring four or more runs, but only 2-23 when scoring less than four runs.

KC's Zack Greinke allowed two runs over seven innings, but did not get a decision. It was his fourth no decision of the year and his ERA is 2.33 in the four contests. His ERA on the year is 2.72 in nine starts, but the Royals are just 2-7 in those games. The Royals Billy Butler went hitless in the game, snapping a seven-game batting streak.

Garrett Atkins went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. He has now gone 44 games without a homer, extending a career high. He has gone 138 at bats without a home run, eight shy of his career-worst streak of 146 at bats from July 1-August 13, 2005.
