Jays pound O’s 8-2 to go 11-0 vs. the Orioles

The Orioles futility vs. Toronto continued tonight in a 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

The Orioles are now 0-11 on the year vs. Toronto and have been outscored in the season series 65-23 and out-homered 23 to 4.

The Orioles fall to 2-10 since the All-Star break and are now 31-69 after 100 games. They have lost 10 in a row and 19 of their last 21 games at Rogers Centre

Kevin Millwood took the loss and again had a poor start. He allowed Jose Bautista’s three-run homer in the first inning. Bautista added a two-run shot in the 8th off Alfredo Simon as he went 4 for 4 with two homers and 5 RBI.

He leads the Majors with 30 homers and has hit six off the Orioles.

Millwood has now allowed two runs or more in the first inning of 10 of his last 11 starts. He falls to 2-10, 5.96 on the season, giving up six runs over 5 1/3.

Last night, the Orioles trailed 8-0 after five innings and this evening it was 6-0 after four.

Winning pitcher Ricky Romero is now 8-7, 3.46 after pitching seven scoreless frames before he allowed two runs in the eighth.

Nick Markakis snapped a 3 for 27 stretch, going 2 for 4 with an RBI double and Luke Scott plated a run with a sac fly. But he went 0 for 3 as his 11-game batting streak ended. Adam Jones was 3 for 4.

The Orioles have now scored three runs or less in eight of 12 contests in the second half. They are 3-52 on the year when scoring less than four runs.

The O’s fall to 0-2 on this road trip, 13-36 on the road this year and now have a combined record of 4-28 vs. the Yankees, Rays and Jays.
