Brandon Snyder was activated off the DL by the Triple-A Norfolk Tides today and is batting seventh and playing first base at Lehigh Valley tonight.
Snyder, who last played for the Tides on June 17, went 3 for 13 with a double and homer in three games on an injury rehab assignment with Aberdeen. Snyder resumes his play with the Tides with a five-game batting streak, during which he went 7 for 18.
Update: His first time up tonight, Snyder hit a two-run homer in the top of the second in that game. Josh Bell has a solo homer and the Tides lead 3-0 early on.
Michael Aubrey has been on a remarkable tear for the Tides. Over his last seven games he is 10 for 24, but that is only part of the story. Seven of those ten hits are homers and he has 17 RBI in that stretch. Over those seven games, he has homered in five of those games with two multi-homer games and a Grand Slam. He had hit just six homers over his first 61 games.
Nolan Reimold is 7 for 17 with a homer during a five-game hitting streak. Matt Angle is batting .375 with 8 steals and seven multi-hit games over his last 14 contests.
Meanwhile, Tyler Townsend, last year’s third-round pick, is on a batting tear at Delmarva. He is 5 for 9 with two homers and 8 RBI the past two games and is 10 for 23 over the last five games with three doubles, a triple, two homers and 11 RBI.
In 29 Shorebirds games, Townsend is batting .330-3-24 with an OPS of .935.
By the way, to make roster room for Snyder at Triple-A, Jonathan Tucker was sent back to Bowie. Also today, Bowie placed catcher Zach Booker on the disabled list.
Troy Patton, who was with the Orioles for one game here on Wednesday, is starting tonight for the Tides. Patton is 4-3, 3.44 over his past nine games.
