After missing out on their first three-game sweep at New York in 24 years, the Orioles’ road trip resumes at Detroit tonight where the Tigers host the O’s in game one of a three-game series.
The Orioles were also looking for the season’s first five-game winning streak, but didn’t get it on Wednesday. They have won four in a row six times.
The Orioles have won eight of the past 12 games and are 21-14 under Buck Showalter They are 6-4-1 in 11 series since Showalter took over after winning just 4 of 34 series before that.
The team ERA is 3.56 under Showalter.
The Tigers are 71-70 on the year, but are 46-25 at home. They swept three from the O’s at Comerica Park in July by scores of 12-9, 7-5 and 4-2.
Miguel Cabrera went 7 for 14 with four extra-base hits in that series and Brandon Inge was 7 for 12 with 6 RBI.
The Tigers, who have won six of the last eight overall, are 9-1 over their past ten home games. They have a batting average of .328 and ERA of 1.91 in those ten contests.
Detroit, which is 23-32 since the All-Star Game, won the last three games of a four-game series with Chicago, winning 6-3 Thursday as Johnny Damon had four hits.

Markakis: Is 8 for 20 during a five-game batting streak and has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games, batting .313-0-9.

Pie: 1 for 14 over his last four games.
Roberts: During seven-game batting streak is 12 for 31 (.387) with four multi-hit games.
Scott: 0 for 9 over three games.
Wieters: Is .395-1-11 over his past 12 games.
