Garza to O's: "I'm going to shove it down your throat this time."

Tampa Bay right-hander Matt Garza has had a lot of success vs. the Orioles, going 8-1, 3.14 in 11 career starts vs. the Birds.

But on July 20th, the O's scored seven runs off him in 6 1/3 innings and hit four homers against him. That game clearly didn't sit well with Garza. Tonight, Garza starts vs. the O's at Camden Yards.

He tells the St. Petersburg Times he owes the Orioles "a lot of payback" and that he's "going to make them feel really uncomfortable in the box."

He went on to say "I'm going to shove it down your throat this time."

Wonder how he really feels.

If those aren't fighting words, I don't know what they are. Garza is grumpy. At the Orioles.

Tonight's game just got a lot more interesting.

Here is a link to the story where Garza pops off.

By the way, be sure to be here today at Noon when I host live video chats with Adam Jones and Jeremy Guthrie. You can send in your own questions for the players.

Steve-

Who plays SS next year? I know that Izturis has said he wants to come back. But, thats not good. We have to make a move. We can't just go another year with the status quo.
I mean, when is it time to make the move to contend? Before you know it, Nick will be a free agent again. Jones, Guthrie, etc. They will all be at that point, then they go, and we have to wait 3 or 4 more seasons while young players develop.

I pray they aren't writing off next season. I guess we will see in the offseason. I would rather see them throw Miclat or someone out there, if they aren't going to make a strong push for Reyes, or a legit player.
I already hear people talking about 500 being a reach for next year.
Great. There is NO sense of urgency.
THats why, we can't get excited by a 17-11. Cuz they just don't have the guns (ready) in the organization to go 17-11 each month, and Buck or no Buck, we know they are not going to trade what it takes to get a significant addition. And that free agent list doesn't scream "I'm what you need" at any position. Unless they go after some big arms.
IDK. I just see what happends when you have to many of those below average veterans on your team. You can have a ton of young talent, but, 1 Hendrickson or Simon type, and boom. You lose.

I hope they go for it this offseason. They have enough talent on the team to make a splash to finish it up.
Like when they had Cal, Moose, Bordick, ANderson, Hoiles, Erickson. They went and grabbed E.D. Robbie, and Raffy, and went wire to wire.

Hey Steve. First off thanks so much for all that people such as you, Roch, Jen Royle, etc. have done this year. You have no idea how much I've looked forward to logging onto the computer in the morning and seeing what you all have to say, responding, etc. I hope that all of you keep up the good work for the rest of this year, next year, and beyond. (And in your case I hope to hear you on the Terp pre/post-game shows.)

My message to Garza would be short and simple: BRING IT.
------------------------
Thanks a lot, Domenic. - Steve.

Pop off, yo. Pop off.

Is that Garza with the big mouth? Who does he think he is, T. O.?

Can you imagine an O's pitcher saying that to anyone? If they would they would be saying that to and about a lot of teams, But, this is the kind of players and teams we have representing our division! I was rooting for the Rays but I may change divisions completely. What a jerk! Go O's!!!

OK, In a perfect world we would have Felix Pie continue to develope in the 5 tool star everyone thought he could be, then have Noland Riemold make a remarkable comeback, and allow AJ to play as shallow as he likes,,,,,,,,, at shortstop.

I say it's better to have people hate you than to not care about you at all. I hope the O's get him again (and maybe put one or two back up the box) and start getting the same reaction from other pitchers in the league.

Garza is just mad because he has bad skin and an atrocious goatee.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Rays, but Garza has always been a hotheaded douche. If the Orioles win only one game out of this series I surely hope its against him. And he should probably also keep in mind that our pitchers are capable of making hitters uncomfortable in the box too...would be a shame if one of his players got hurt (ala Adam Jones) in the thick of a pennant race because he can't keep his mouth shut.

I think Garza has brought it plenty and often against the O's based off those stats Steve mentioned above.

I think every team needs a guy like that, unfortunately for the O's that person is Wigginton, who shouldn't be more than just a infield bench player next year if this team is going to be competitive at all.

I think this winter is the time to trade for an Adrian Gonzalez, Billy Butler, Prince Fielder or even an injured Kendry Morales. This team has plenty of young talent to throw out there for the middle of the line-up hitter this team desperately seeks. Reimold, Pie, Andino, Snyder, Aubrey, Tillman, Hernandez, Berken, Bergesen, Arrieta, etc. Package some of these guys up, bite the bullet and make the trade.

What a clown. He's pissed because he lost a game and now "payback" is due? What a joke. I never wish injury upon someone but if there's any time I wouldn't mind seeing a line drive right back up the middle - maybe even up his throat - it'd be now.

The heck? What did the last place O's ever do to offend him? Was there a Luke Scott bat flip in that game or something?

Its hard to censor myself when reading something like this. What a complete tool.

May the O's shove it up Garza's ------!

They went back to back to back off Garza and he intends to not let them get comfortable at the plate. The problem is he announced it, so now get ready for sparks to fly tonight.

Millwood on the mound for the O's. We have a vetern pitcher against Garza. That means if Garza hits an Oriole we might have the same scenario that the Nats-Marlins had earlier this week. If Garza doesnt want to create a stir then he should shut his pie mouth and pitch like a pro should. If a team hits the ball hard like the Orioles did last time then you should make an adjustment in your pitching to beat the same team next time out. Doing it with your mouth is only going to get you in trouble.
