Happy Opening Day!

The bunting is on the rails, the sun is shining, the balloons are out, and judging by the 40-minute wait for security I had getting into Nationals Park this morning, I think we’re expecting a special guest. Yep, it’s Opening Day in D.C.

There are plenty of platitudes written about this day each year -- how it signals the start of something new, how it equates with optimism, etc. -- so I won’t do it, other than to say this: Opening Day is one of those things only America can do.

Enough nostalgia. It’s time for baseball. We’ll be back with a live thread in a couple hours, along with any pregame news to come out of Jim Riggleman’s media session (which starts in about 15 minutes). Here are today’s lineups:
