Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said a few minutes ago on ESPN 980 that Stephen Strasburg will pitch every five days, not every five games, until the All-Star break. That would keep him on a more regular rest schedule, though it would also require some juggling in the Nationals’ rotation.
Strasburg’s next start will come on Sunday in Cleveland. But then he would pitch Friday, June 18, at Nationals Park, not the 19th in the game Fox picked up against the White Sox. He would also start against the Royals at Nationals Park on June 23 instead of pitching at Camden Yards on June 25.
Not sure what this will mean for the rest of the rotation, but I’ll update on the logistics of the arrangement once we talk to Riggleman this afternoon about it.
