Capps makes first All-Star Game; Strasburg not on vote

I’ll have much more on this later, but I wanted to let you know Matt Capps is the Nationals’ All-Star representative for the National League team. The closer, who leads the NL in saves, will represent the team on July 13 in Anaheim.

Stephen Strasburg was not among the pitchers named to the team, though Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said on TBS’s All-Star selection show that he thought “quite a bit” about Strasburg. I was told this morning that Strasburg is not on the ballot for the final spot on the National League roster. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman did make the Final Man Vote.

I’ll have much more later, including the reaction from Capps, who was told about the selection this morning and was still emotional when talking to reporters about it.
