Left-hander Scott Olsen, making his first rehab start at Single-A Hagerstown after being out since May with left shoulder inflammation, was impressive in his debut. Olsen went four innings, striking out five, hitting a batter and allowing an unearned run. Olsen threw 48 pitches, 36 for strikes.
General manager Mike Rizzo told reporters in Florida today that Olsen shouldn’t be too far from returning.
John Lannan is also pitching at Double-A Harrisburg tonight; he had given up one run and four hits while walking three through four innings. The results continue to be less than impressive for Lannan in the minors, though Rizzo told reporters that he expects Lannan to be in the majors later this year.
