In the fourth inning at homer-happy Chase Field, the Nationals’ bats have them off to a good start against the Diamondbacks. They lead Arizona 4-1 in the fourth inning, with two homers from Adam Dunn accounting for three of the runs.
Dunn now has 28 homers for the season, and has surpassed Joey Votto for the National League lead. Niether one was cheap, either; both of them were well over 400 feet.
Craig Stammen has been shaky through three innings, giving up three walks and four hits. But he’s only allowed a run, and has been able to pitch out of jams so far. Still, he’s thrown 61 pitches through three innings, which could become a concern fairly quickly if he labors through the fourth.
