A couple quick pregame notes. I’ll have more on the Andre Dawson ceremony in a little bit:
--Ross Detwiler (strained right hip) is feeling better, though the Nationals still haven’t received the results of his MRI. Manager JIm Riggleman said the Nationals aren’t going to get too far ahead of themselves when determining how soon the left-hander could come back.
--Nyjer Morgan got an MRI on his hip over the weekend, and though Riggleman said the test showed some problems, the outfielder won’t need surgery. “I know Nyjer’s irritated that he’s on the disabled list. He felt like could have played through this,” Riggleman said. “But once you go to the trainer and say, ‘I want to know what’s wrong,’ and they find something, we’ve got to be conservative about it.”
--The Nationals wore tri-colored Expos caps during batting practice today. Livan Hernandez is the only player on the Nationals’ roster who played for the 2004 Expos, though Miguel Batista also played two seasons for the Expos. And reliever Drew Storen’s mother, Pam, tweeted this picture of Storen as a batboy for the Expos when they played in Cincinnati. Storen, as a kid, adopted the Expos as one of his favorite teams.
