The Nationals have inked two of the four draft picks they were trying to lock down at the signing deadline.
Second-round pick Sammy Solis, a left-hander from the University of San Diego, has officially agreed to terms with the team, the Nationals announced. Solis, whose signing was reported several days ago, will get a $1 million bonus.
The 6-foot-5 left-hander has a fastball that touches 94 mph, and throws two breaking pitches, including a curveball that most scouting reports called his best pitch. He was 9-2 at San Diego with a 3.42 ERA.
