Welcome to MASN’s discussion space for tonight’s Nationals-Phillies game at Nationals Park. I’ll have updates and analysis throughout the night, and if you want to participate in the discussion, leave your thoughts in the comments section. I’ll respond to you there. I’ve been playing around with Twitter widgets all day, and I’ll post one here, too -- just tag your tweets with #masnnats, and they’ll be included.
7:10: John Lannan gave up a single to Placido Polanco, who has absolutely killed the Nationals this year, and threw a wild pitch to get him to second. But he got out of the inning without any damage.
7:33: It’s 1-0 Phillies, after Jayson Werth hit his 26th homer of the year off John Lannan. The blast, which came on a 1-1 pitch, landed in left field.
8:20: Through five innings, Roy Halladay has thrown just 58 pitches, getting groundouts whenever he needs them. The Nationals have just one hit, and still trail 1-0.
9:35: The Phillies have blown this game open; they’ve scored four runs in the ninth, an inning that’s featured a missed ball by Nyjer Morgan, a missed tag by Adam Dunn and lots of Joe Bisenius pitches the Phillies didn’t miss. And perhaps most galling for Nationals fans, the Phillies’ contingent in the stadium is chanting, “This is our house.” Although, come to think of it, most of the place is Phillies fans, so who’s there to shout them down?
